Grumpy Rhino Illustrated

Grump is an illustration sharing an inherent character trait that many of us share. For example, he is very impatient with everything especially people that get in his way. He is a bit of a bully and, though he has great potential, contents himself to grump and push about with his massive bulk.

I created him as an illustration to show how we should not allow ourselves to behave as being who have an amount of control over our dispositions.
As I earlier commented, I started with the drawing first, doodling around with a pencil, then the idea came to me to characterize him with aggressive people type behavior.
He was illustrated with watercolor on bristol paper rather quickly compared to other children’s illustration that I have done.

I previously illustrated some characters then later decided to put them in books.
The illustrations are done in mixed media of watercolor, pastel, and colored pencil.
I really like illustrating although I am not very fast applying the color. I suppose that would be the deliberate mode of painting.
